ADS-TEC Energy’s ChargePost Honored with German Innovation Award 2024
ADS-TEC Energy’s ChargePost, a multifunctional fast-charging station, has been awarded the German Innovation Award 2024. This accolade highlights ChargePost’s design, branding, and innovation.
The jury lauded ChargePost’s unique combination of features. The integrated battery system allows for ultra-fast charging of EVs even on limited power grids, making it an attractive solution for various business applications.
ChargePost is a battery-buffered fast charging station that provides off-grid ultra-fast charging for EVs. Developed and produced in Germany, this charging station can charge electric vehicles within minutes, eliminating long waiting times. It features two large HD screens on the sides, offering striking opportunities for advertising and information dissemination.
In a statement, the jury noted, “With the ChargePost fast charging station from ADS-TEC Energy, long waiting times when charging electric cars are a thing of the past, as the system always maintains a high charging capacity thanks to the buffer battery.”
The German Innovation Awards acknowledge products, projects, and pioneering achievements that sustainably improve life through innovation and progress. Established by the German Bundestag and supported by German industry, these awards emphasize the significance of advancements in design and technology.
There are already hundreds of ChargePost fast-charging points across Europe. The integrated battery storage system stores energy to boost charging power as needed, allowing up to 300 kW charging even on power-limited grids. This capability has proven effective in busy charging locations, where ChargePost can achieve over 1 MW per day.
In April ADS-TEC Energy’s multifunctional charging station, ChargePost, won a Green Product Award in the mobility category. Every year, the Green Product Awards recognize products and concepts that stand out in terms of design, innovation, and sustainability. The winners in 12 categories were selected from 250 shortlisted products and concepts. This year saw a record number of award submissions with 1,500 entries from 60 countries.
ChargePost presents new revenue opportunities for infrastructure operators. By using self-generated PV electricity for charging, operators can reduce energy procurement costs, countering rising grid charges. Additionally, ChargePost’s bidirectional battery can cap peak loads or feed back into the grid. By linking multiple ChargePosts to form a virtual power plant, operators can trade energy and benefit from fluctuating electricity prices.
ChargePost’s innovative features make it a sustainable solution for bringing ultra-fast charging to places where traditional charging stations are impractical, such as rural areas far from highways, charging parks, or city centers.
Based on more than ten years of experience with lithium-ion technologies, ADS-TEC Energy develops and manufactures battery storage solutions and fast charging systems including their energy management systems. Its battery-based, fast charging technology enables electric vehicles to ultrafast charge even on low powered grids and features a very compact design. It was most recently nominated by the President of the Federal Republic of Germany for the German Future Prize and elevated to the “Circle of Excellence” in 2022.
